Getting Started with Google Analytics

Before integrating Google Analytics into your Next.js application, you need to set up a Google Analytics account and create a property for your site.

Setting Up a Google Analytics Account

To start using Google Analytics, you'll first need to create an account. Go to the Google Analytics website and sign up with your Google account. Follow the prompts to set up your account, add a property (your website), and set up a data stream.

Click on Start measuring button and then you have to go through different forms (Account creating, property creation, … ). Please complete all those according to the way you want.

After submitting everything, you will be redirected to the homepage. On top of the page, we will see three different buttons i.e Web, Android app & iOS app. Click on Web as our platform for project is web (Next js), then you will see this screen.

Enter website url of your hosted next app and give a suitable Stream name (You will be able to change it later too). Once you create the stream, you will get to the page where you can copy MEASUREMENT ID. This is the tracking Id that we will be using in out next js app. It looks something like this ‘G-XXXXXXXXXX’. Copy that ID.
